It was like sleeping in a shoebox--only worse A review of Microtel Pigeon Forge Emert St
I booked this hotel through Hotwire and then read the reviews. Needless to say, I was appalled to think they partnered with a hotel that clearly had problems. I tried to cancel to no avail. Lesson learned--never trust hotels used on Hotwire. We went forward and stayed at this Microtel since we had paid for it. True to the past reviews, it was horrible. I asked for a 3rd floor room based on what I already knew about the problems on the 1st floor.(2nd floor is for guests with pets) There is no ventilation in the hallway so it reeked. The room itself was tiny. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. That is the best of what I can say so the rest is truly bad. The room wasn't cleaned the 2nd day and when we asked for service all we got were new ratty towels. The sheets were not changed. The shower was perilous in that the water went from scalding hot to freezing cold over and over. The bathroom was not cleaned the 4 nights we stayed. The continental breakfast is almost nonexistent. There was 1 bagel and toast @ 8:30am and no coffee left. The front desk staff was not rude but they were not pleasant or helpful either. Most of the time I saw them hiding in the back room. The pool was not open but it was very small. It did not look like anything you would want to spend a day lounging in. The best thing I can say is that the location was good for Pigeon Forge. It's within walking distance to the Mill and close to many restaurants. With that said, I will NEVER stay in a Microtel ever again and I will NEVER use Hotwire ever again in order to insure it. There are too many decent hotels in Pigeon Forge that are reasonable to have to tolerate such lousy accomodations.
