It was free, I want my $ back! A review of Kahler Grand Hotel
I was interviewing at the mayo clinic and they provide free lodging at one of numerous hotels around the clinic. Sadly, I picked the Kahler b/c it was connected to the clinic via the skywalk.I have no idea how much the rooms go for, but I would not pay more than $29.99. The lobby was nice and the workout/pool area was above average. However, the room was SHOCKINGLY bad. (Rent He Got Game by Spike Lee and check out the room Denzel stays in for a like comparison). By no means do I live an extravagant lifestyle and in college I stayed in some cheap hostels during a european backpacking trip; however, this was the worst hotel room I had ever been in. The room was smaller than a manhattan studio apt. The furniture was old and broken down. The bed was rock hard. The carpet had a 3x2 foot stain (blood?) on it. The walls were stained from water damage. The bathroom was passable with a lot of towels. To top it all off, I never got my wake up call.If I had paid for the room I would have totally lost it and demanded my money back. I would never stay there again.
