It really was the best! A review of Hotel Navarra

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Navarra for three nights in May and it was a lovely experience. The reception staff were very friendly and checked us in extremely quickly. The room was top floor and quite large (like the size of a studio flat!), with a decent sized bed, tv, table, 2 leather chairs and a fridge/minibar. The bathroom was huge, but it had a big space in the corner with nothing there - I thought this a bit pointless at first but actually it was nice to have the extra space!

There was a small sign asking guests to try to use their towels for more than one day to save putting loads of washing powder into the environment. We were fine with this but then when the chamber maid cleaned our room, fresh towels were given anyway! She did a wonderful job everyday and waited for us when we weren't ready for the room to be cleaned (about midday).

It was also available to get a tea/coffee tray from reception (with kettle, cups and tea/coffee sachets) which we did 10 minutes after we arrived! The reception staff were very happy to replenish your stock, and the chamber maid also added extras when needed. She even put a little chocolate on both bedside tables everyday. I lovely touch!

The leisure facilities included a pool, mixed sauna and gym (all free use to guests). The indoor pool was based in a Greek style cavern. It was a lovely size and quite warm. It wasn't particularly busy so that was an added bonus. There were plenty of fresh towels and everything was clean and tidy. The gym was very well equipped and again, this wasn't very busy.

The hotel also had a cafe/bar which was very pleasant and reasonably priced. You could get tea and coffee (free after midnight until 6am) and various alcoholic drinks. A few times a week a pianist played in the early evening.

In with the stay is a full breakfast. It was very continental - lots of breads, meats and cheeses, along with cereals, yoghurts and juices. Being British, I was looking for more full-english style, but there were only eggs and sausages. We actually went out one morning to one of the open-terraced restaurants where my needs were taken care of though!

All in all, a wonderful hotel. The staff were accomodating and the location was perfect. It was about a 4 minute walk to the main square which really is the epicenter of Brugge. Brugge is a lovely town and excellent for a short city break. There are many attractions including the Belfry tower which plays tunes with bells every 15 minutes (Beethoven etc.), horse drawn carriages for a 30 minute talk-through tour, loads of lovely restaurants and all the chocolate shops you could want. Oh, and they all speak perfect English (and French and German) so its brilliant for the non-multilingual!

We would like to ask you to pay attention to the fact that the pictures of the rooms, as metioned on the candid traveler photos, are dated.
