Is it just me? A review of Hilton Providence

Got a room through priceline at a fair price. Called several days ahead to reserve a king-sized bed and non-smoking room. Operator said the reservation is "locked" - can't do anything. Made the same request when checking in, desk clerk made the following comment: "All on-line bookings are assigned smoking rooms. We can't change your reservation, because if everybody does so, it'll be a mess." (1) I didn't reserve a smoking room; (2) why assign smoking rooms to all on-line bookings? Their logic: internet user = smoker. Informed the desk clerk that my wife is pregnant, so a non-smoking room is a must. Manager came out, told us the hotel is FULLY-BOOKED. Went to the room, smelled like cigarette. Went back to the desk to try again. Another clerk found a VACANT NON-SMOKING room. (Fully-booked?)

First full day of our stay: 3:00p.m. returned to our room, still messy. 4:00p.m: maid knocked, I asked if she could come back in an hour. Told me "no," (and other things, mostly in Spanish.) 5:00p.m., on our way out, requested housekeeping at front desk, desk clerk (white male) very impolite - no eye contact, talked to other people before conversation ended (didn't have the same attitude toward non-Asian guests.) 10:00p.m. returned to our room: still no housekeeping. Saw two wine glasses (not ours) sitting right outside our door. Still there the next day when we checked out.

Sunday: Asked for church information. The white male clerk still talked in the same demeanor: no eye contact, scribbled a church phone number on a post-it, chucked it at me. (I wonder why I'm treated special.) Tried to find a phone book. Couldn't find any. Had to walk to Westin to find one.

Unprofessional, unhelpful, and inexcusable.
