Incredibly helpful staff A review of King Charles Boutique Hotel Residence

We felt slightly anxious after reading some of the more negative reviews but overall could not fault the hotel and certainly not for the incredibly low price we paid. Our room was on the fourth floor and at the back of the hotel so we didn't experience any noise which did seem to be a problem for the front facing rooms. The bed was fantastically comfortable, the bathroom very swish though I couldn't work out how to use the jacuzzi without flooding the entire room,a problem experienced by another guest I spoke to at breakfast.I am sure that Andrei, the Russian manager would have explained what we were doing wrong but somehow we didn't get round to asking him. He was charming, interesting and very helpful and spoke very good English,as did all the other staff on the front desk. The location of the hotel probably wasn't very central but we enjoyed walking in to the centre along the river and felt perfectly safe walking back late at night. If we didn't feel like walking,it was very easy to use the trams which seemed to run after midnight though with changed numbers, the 18 becoming 52(or 53?) We stayed three nights and only had to share a table at breakfast on the first morning, though this was no real problem even for someone as notoriously grumpy as I am before about 11a.m. Having spoken with others at the airport on our return, I think we had a fantastic deal in terms of the range of food available and certainly in terms of the helpfulness of the hotel staff and the comfort of the room. We visited all the main tourist sights but really enjoyed Vysherad castle and cemetery and the Botanic Gardens which are on the doorstep and probably missed by many others. We hope to return to Prague and aim to travel outside the capital as the public transport system really does seem to work and is very cheap. Only moan---as non smokers we were gasping for breath in every bar, cafe,or restaurant we visited where, irrespective of the time of day or whether it was a 1 or 5 star establishment, everybody else seemed to be puffing away!
