Incredible value for money A review of Chez Pierre Bahamas
The Bahamas is not the cheapest place to visit and so when I saw Chez Pierre advertised on the internet I booked it more because it was the only place we could afford rather than any other reason! We were visiting the Bahamas for my sister's wedding on New Providence Island and were keen to explore more of the Bahamas than just the main tourist capital.
On arrival we were greeted by Pierre and shown to our cabin. The pictures on the website, although beautiful, did not prepare us for the incredible view of the bay, and we sat for a while on the small decking area of the cabin soaking in our surroundings. The next five days were spent relaxing, reading, swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and eating. As observed by others, the food is excellent and breakfast and dinner are included in the price ($120 per night per room!). Pierre also made us delicious sandwiches for lunch on request and for just a few dollars.
We hired a car through Pierre to explore the island (also excellent value at $55 a day) and would recommend visiting Dean's hole, Cape Santa Maria Resort (for fantastic beaches and pina coladas) and the Columbus monument. There are too many beautiful beaches to mention here, but buy a rough guide and follow their recommendations!
The holiday surpassed our expectations, although the lack of air conditioning was a slight issue in mid August temperatures! We bypassed the sulphur smell mentioned in another review by only using the cold water tap for showering (which became a perfect lukewarm temperature in the summer heat!). The brackish water from the showers started to become a problem towards the end of the stay, as combined with the excessive heat, we started to feel a little salty! However, the positives by far outweighed the negatives and we would love to visit again. Thanks Pierre for a fantastic holiday!
