If you are paying $45 it's fine A review of Crowne Plaza Hotel Kansas City Downtown

This hotel is showing it's age...

1) The common areas are run down and dingy

2) The rooms are just run down and need to be updated. The first time we stayed there there were spots on the sheets and there was no remote control in the room, that was just the start! The second time (we got unlucky on Priceline!) the mirror on the closet door was broken, there were small blood stains on our pillow, the internet box was missing it's cord and was hard to fix, there were flies buzzing around the lobby, our room was next door to the weight room (which they do not lock) Not a problem if there are not 15-year olds slamming down the weight stacks until 2 a.m. and starting agin at 10 a.m.!! The hotel couldn't seem to fiure out how to remedy this

3) Downtown Kansas City does not have a ton of bars and restaurants, so plan on having a car. The hotel also has NO nightlife what so ever.

Just an FYI both times we were there (once last year, once this year) the hotel was hosting large youth (teenage) conferences.

Summary: If you are looking for a cheap place to sleep and that is it, this hotel gets the job done. The bathrooms aren't great, but not awful. We would avoid this hotel in the future! We have gotten this room for as low as $40 a night on Priceline.
