I want to go home! A review of St George's Park & La Vallette Resorts
Have just returned from one week at the St Georges Park complex and it was the worst holiday I have ever had. This hotel has a 3 star rating in the brochures but I don't know how.
The room we were allocated was over a thumping disco which went on until 6am and when we asked for a quieter room was told we would have to wait until the next day pay an extra £27.
The accommodation was terrible with no air conditioning and the temperature in the 90's. There was no ventilation in the bathroom. The shower was a handheld affair and as there wasn't a shower curtain the water soon covered the floor. The toilet pan looked as if it hadn't had a proper clean in ages. The mattresses were lumpy with springs poking out and were covered with a thin sheet. My partner had an itchy rash on his back while we were there, I dread to think what was in the mattress!
The food was terrible, watery and tasteless and frequently ran out, especially at breakfast. For some reason the air conditioning in the dining room was not working and it was most unpleasant eating in a temperature of over 90 degrees. Most people who had payed for an evening meal ended up eating elsewhere.
Most of the facilities advertised were closed and the entertainment provided was very amateurish and seemed to be provided by children most nights. This took place around the pool so there was no escape from the noise of music.
The maids did come every day and gave us clean towels and mopped up the bathroom floor but the rooms never smelled clean.
After speaking with other guests we seemed to have had a better time than they did! It felt as if we had spent a week in prison rather than a week enjoying ourselves on holiday - I couldn't wait to come home.
