I want to give this hotel 5 stars.........but...........! A review of Victoria Regent Hotel
We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Regent. We were pleasantly surprised by the enormous suite. It was really large with a fully separate bedroom with king size bed, plus ensuite. The lounge, also huge with a queen size sofa bed. Both rooms had TVs. There was even a spacious dining area and separate large kitchen fitted with all you would need for a great self catering holiday. The suite was perfectly clean and maintained. All in all you would think this was enough for a great stay.......unfortunately there were two major faults which completely spoiled our stay. Firstly, the noise! The hotel is situated right on the harbour, next to a busy traffic bridge, a main road and a small grassy area where all of Victoria's dropouts used as either a place to meet or to spend the night. The noise from all of these things was unbelievable. I had to wear earplugs to help sleep. The second fault was the fact that the room had no AirCon & we were there during hot weather. As the noise outside made it impossible to open the windows, the room was uncomfortably hot & stuffy. There was a fan but it was totally inadequate, we baked. The staff were all very pleasant & helpful, the room absolutely pristine.....but we could not recommend this hotel, much as we would like to.
Nearly forgot.....the hotel is directly on the flight path for the constant landings of the seaplanes. We watched them.......right up close, as they flew very close to our window when they came into land....VERY, VERY noisey.
