I loved my stay at Coral Beach A review of Coral Beach Hotel and Condos

Hi,I tried to place a review last week but I don't think it posted so here goes again.I stayed at Diannes wonderful studio apartment at the Coral Beach property for 8 days of my vacation and 5 days at Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort. Both were wonderful.Dianne's studio at Coral Beach is very convenient and accommodating for a nice, totally relaxing stay. I enjoyed staying at the Coral Beach apartment sooooo much! It's a large studio nice and cozy. Dianne is a great person, the nicest person you'll ever know. Dianne does her most to make her guests happy.Coral Beach is the perfect, quiet spot for a nice vacation.Coral Beach Apartment Hotel is a quiet, peaceful beachfront property (6 floors) in a residential neighborhood in the Lucaya area. It sits amid gardens and groves of casuarinas. It is close to Port Lucaya Marketplace but still in a residential area. Lots of the owners are renovating their apartments. The beachfront of Coral Beach is lovely. Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort is a 15 minute walk away along the beach.Taxi fare from Grand Bahama International Airport to the Coral Beach property costs $19 for two people. The public bus stop is conveniently located just half a block away from the Coral Beach building at the intersection of Coral Beach Road and Royal Palm Way - it's actually about a 3 minute walk from the front door of the Coral Beach property. The bus runs from 7 am - 7 pm - you have to wait for about 10 minutes for one to show up. Bus fare is $1.00 per person; you must have the exact change or a $1.00 bill. The buses are really like mini-vans.The studio I stayed in has one king size bed, sitting area with 2 sleeper sofas (one is a double and the other is a single), a mini kitchenette, a whitewash rectangle dining table with four chairs with fabric cushions, a full ensuite bathroom - dressing area with sink and vanity and closet with sliding mirror doors, and a separate area with toilet, another sink, a standard size tub and shower. The apartment has almond (beige/white) ceramic tile flooring. The kitchenette countertops have almond ceramic tiles. The living/sitting area has a glass and almond rattan tv/stereo center with color TV with cable and a universal remote, VCR with an ample selection of movies, a stereo with 5 CD changer, a dual cassette player, and a coffee table (beige with glass top). The cream colored sofa is really a sofa bed (turns into a double bed when open) and the arm chair opens up into a single bed. There is a large bureau with nine drawers so ample space for storing stuff. The apartment had hair dryer, hair curler, iron and ironing board. The outside balcony has a round plastic white table and chairs on the balcony (nice to sit outside). The balcony floor is tiled with ceramic tiles. There is a ceiling fan and also a stand up fan in the living/sitting area. The airconditioning is so strong I often had to shut it off during my stay. The kitchenette has a microwave, full sized fridge, stove top and oven, toaster, blender, coffee maker, electric can opener, crock pot, storage/microwaveable containers, etc.Lots of upgrades have been put into Dianne's studio recently - brand new air conditioner with remote control, a new telephone with answering machine, dishes, glasses. Everything you need is there including bed linens, towels and kitchen items. The apartment has nice dishes, silverware and glasses.Blackbeard's Landing is the nice pool patio bar which has a few bar stools and two small picnic tables. This poolside beach bar serves snacks such as burgers, conch fritters, sodas and tropical drinks. Charmaine bartends here and everyone tells me that she is extremely nice. When I stayed at Coral Beach for part of this summers vacation, Lydia tended the bar and grill as Charmaine was away on vacation.Blackbeards is open from 10am-6pm daily but food is only served till about 4pm drinks are available till 6pm.Blackbeard's Landing Happy Hour is Monday to Friday from 4-6pm and you can get 2 for 1 island tropical drinks, Hi-ball drinks, wine and discounted beer. Happy Hour is even open to non-guests of Coral Beach so it's a fun spot to hang out.I copied the entire menu for Blackbeards Landing Bar & Grill On The Beach Ill just give a FEW sample menu items - the 15% gratuity is already included in the prices I will quote. A chef salad costs $6.25. An order of fries costs $1.75. Conch Fritters (8) costs $3.75. A club sandwich costs $5.25. A hot dog costs $3.50. A bacon & cheese burger costs $5.50. A grilled cheese sandwich costs $2.75. A plate of BBQ or Spicy Wings (6) & fries costs $6.75. A beer costs $3.50. Non-alcoholic beer costs $2.00. A tropical drink costs $5.75. A soda costs $1.50. Bottled water costs $1.50.The rectangular swimming pool on-site overlooks the beach. The pool is rather smallish if you are comparing it with the great pools at the big hotels on the island but I love it since it has a deep end so it is great for swimming. It is not heated but was fine since I was there in August. The Coral Beach poolside has white patio tables with umbrellas and chairs and some chaise lounges. The Coral Beach property has such a great location. The beachfront of the Coral Beach property is private and quiet-like, the ideal place to relax and enjoy the sun and sea. Just a few steps down from the pool is the wonderful stretch of glorious beach. The beach is lovely since it is wide and spacious. There are a few palapas/tiki huts on the beach. The ocean water is a beautiful shade of turquoise. You can walk along the beach to Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort almost every day to get some exercise.Staying at Coral Beach is a nice way to relax and escape from the real world. I have stayed numerous times at the Coral Beach property in the past. It is nice to be able to walk down to Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort but I love the relative isolation and the quality of the beach at Coral Beach. One advantage of staying at the Coral Beach apartment units is that, when you rent from a private owner at Coral Beach, you do NOT have to pay the hotel taxes and surcharges that you would if you stayed in a hotel or motel.I would recommend Coral Beach.best regards,Carrie carriek5@hotmail.com
