I Love the Cedar House Inn & Yurts! A review of Cedar House Inn & Yurts

This was my second time staying at this really great B&B. Fred and Mary Beth strike a wonderful balance of eco-friendly and comfort/charm.

Fred has lots of great info about "green" living, but he is not pushy about it at all. There are friendly requests on signs in rooms to turn off lights etc., and there is a small recycling bin in the room. I learned a lot from Fred that has impacted my life permanently, and from the magazines around, but if I wasn't interested in learning a lot I could easily have not. For better or worse, you fill in the blank.

We stayed in one of the two yurts. It is such a treat. It is very comfortable and beautiful in the yurt; not roughing it! But still just a little bit away from everything, nestled in the woods. There is a composting toilet in the yurt, and if you don't know about it and the thought of it grosses you out, you'd be amazed. It is not at all gross. There is no smell at all, and it is really a wonderful thing to be using so much less water. Each yurt guest also has their own full bath, with a regular toilet, a sink, and shower, and it is a short walk away. You keep your bathroom stuff in there and you keep it locked and you are the only ones to use it.

The inn itself is a short walk from the yurts, up some gravel/wood steps, for our private (beautiful) full bathroom, and our delicious breakfast that Mary Beth prepares. The walk might be a little difficult for some for whom walking is not easy.

By the way, I love the breakfasts!

If you don't want to stay in a yurt, you can stay in one of the pretty rooms right in the inn.

My favorite part of the stay is Mary Beth and Fred. They are so fun and easy to talk to, and full of heart, and very cool people.

The first time I stayed there, I stayed by myself. It was a mommy getaway, and I highly recommend this to other moms who need a quiet retreat, while still having the good company of Mary Beth and Fred if you want it.
