I liked it A review of Hotel Moscow (Moskva)
I stayed in this hotel a couple of years ago, and I liked it. I have to say right away that I grew up in St Petersburg, so I didn't really need to ask many questions from the staff. Still when I dealt with the hotel stuff, they were polite - certainly better than I expected given my memories of service in Russia at the time I lived there (before 1978). But... I do speak accent-free Russian, so I guess my requirements are somewhat different. I am also used to Russian food, so I really liked breakfast in the hotel. The hotel also has a hair dresser salon. I tried it for color/cut, and I got excellent service for less than half the price I pay in the US.
Maybe because I am from Russia originally, I didn't pay much attention to drunks; at any rate I am a single woman and at no time did I feel threatened.
I had a renovated room, and while it was small, it was clean and the bathroom was modern. It didn't have an air conditioner, but it had a window fan and a fan. I don't think you get an air conditioned rooms in many centrally located hotels in London or Paris for this price either.
Bottom line. If you can pay for Sheraton or Hotel Europe, do so, but if you can't, this hotel certainly provides as much or more as any similarly-priced centrally located hotel in any big city in Europe .
