I Didn't Stay There, But... A review of Ledgelawn Inn
Right off the top, I'll let you know.. I did not actually stay here. However, my story gives you some indication of how it's run.
I actually made a reservation in early January for three nights in June. I was told I'd get a confirmation letter in the mail within a few weeks, but that they couldn't immediately charge my credit card for the two nights deposit because they were having problems with their machine.
Well, when I never got the letter.. I e-mailed them and asked about it.. and got a relatively unpleasant e-mail back saying to be patient and that I'd get a confirmation.
Then... in April, I think, my card was charged, but still no confirmation letter.
Well, then, I needed to change my plans (found out I was moving in June) and decided to cancel the reservation just a few days after I was charged. So, I called and left a message (it seems the phone is rarely answered) informing them of this and I decided I'd be brave and ask for them NOT to charge the $50 cancellation fee (they *did* inform me about this when I made the reservation, I freely admit). My thinking is that it doesn't seem right for them to charge me this fee... months after I make the reservation and they've never sent me any kind of confirmation. It's $50 profit pure and simple.. when they couldn't even send me a letter (as promised) to confirm my reservation! And there's NO doubt they've already re-booked my room, because all the B&Bs in Bar Harbor are totally packed in June.
Anyway, I got a return message saying they wouldn't do that, but would credit my card minus the $50 if I didn't call them the next day. I didn't call.. and lo and behold.. my card didn't get credited (imagine). So... I e-mailed a few weeks later.... didn't get a response.. and then called. They then e-mailed me and said my card would be credited within 10 business days. Whatever! Why do you need 10 days to give me back my money and steal $50 of it?
Let me make it clear... I haven't stayed it at this place. But I'm quite put-off by their lack of organization and unpleasant demeanor with me, and there's no way when I DO re-schedule my vacation in Bar Harbor (which I will) that I'll stay there.
Why are some B&Bs so horribly run?
