I agree with the noise issue A review of Sheraton Palo Alto Hotel
I stay here for business 3-4 times a year. The toilets are not gravity flush. Instead they use air pressure. I liked them so much I opened the tank to get the name of the company and had them installed in my home. No more clog toilets. BUT they make a jet engine sound when flushed. This is also a business hotel with many people like myself coming from the east coast. Therefore due to the jet lag we get up around 4AM. Then the flushing starts. If this is not so bad the walls are also thin and you can hear everything. Lastly if you get a room facing the back, the Caltrain will keep you up. So yes if you are a light sleeper you need to find another hotel, or pay more and stay in the club tower, which includes a free breakfast if you can find the room. It is unmarked and locked to keep out freeloaders. Make sure you get the room number from the front desk. Also they gated the parking lot and you have to pay $9.00 day for self parking. Location is great on the corner of University Ave the "main street" of Palo alto. You can leave the car behind and walk to wonderfull restaurants.
