Hotel was clean and comfortable A review of Embassy Suites Hotel Jacksonville - Baymeadows
I had booked a room for 4 nights back in July with a reasonable rate. In August I noticed that there was an AARP rate available for $10 a night less. That rate wasn't there when I originally had booked it. I called Embassy 800 number and asked if I could rebook at the lower rate and they were very accomodating.
We arrived in the late afternoon and were checked in within minutes. Staff was very friendly. I was given a very good map and written directions to a shopping mall the next day, along with verbal instructions. Had no problem following the directions. We stayed here a couple of years ago, so we were familiar with the layout of the hotel. The lobby was attractive with many plants.
Our room was the standard king 2 room suite and it was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are a little small, but we managed fine with the sink and grooming area in the bedroom. Housekeeping was great every day and the room was well taken care of. We had a refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker, all standard in Embassy. I brought my own pillow as the last time we were here, we were unable to get feather pillows. I didn't even ask this time. The beds were comfortable but had limited support down at the bottom - I could have almost slid onto the floor when I went to sit on the end to put my shoes on. Nice thick towels; shampoo and lotion on the counter in the bath area. Good showers but no water softner apparently is used.
Air conditioning was excellent which we were pleased with - temperatures were in the 90's and humid. However, we found it interesting that the lobby area was quite warm. I saw a thermostat by a couch I sat on one day set at 75.
The hotel has an indoor pool which was heated - I would have preferred a refreshing pool and left the warm water to the Jacuzzi, but that is only my opinion. Plenty of towels available.
We had room service, sandwiches and dessert one night from the Omaha Steak House, which were quite pricey. However, the food was very good and the Creme Brulee and Chocolate Cake were both excellent. We ate breakfast only one morning due to schedules and it was adequate, although the bacon was extremely salty. Not a great selection as compared to other Embassy Suites such as one in Orlando, but we found something we liked. Breakfast is not a big issue with us.
A letter was left under the door that there was exterior work being done and that the noise level during the day might be high, but honestly, we never heard anything.
Checkout was done on the TV and everything was accurate. Overall we had a good stay and would stay here again.
