HOTEL PYRAMIDA IS GREAT! A review of Hotel Pyramida
Heard mixed reviews about the accomodation but here is my take on it while i was there for 5 days July 04.
Excellent customer service from reception staff. Room and all hotel facilities clean and of high standard. Breakfast was continental but huge variety - bread, baguettes, jams, cheese, ham, cake, eggs, waffles, tea coffee, hot choc, orange juice - expect to pay extra for bacon sausage etc but you shouldn't need it.
Rooms are spacious and fully equiped but hair dryers a bit crap! Id take your own!
Swimming pool v clean but v cold!!! Also cost £2 for a swim.
Hotel has a lovely terrace bar infront of the hotel - with great bbq food available - cooked on order. Try the chicken needle! Also, the hotel piano bar is modern and has a contemporary feel and is open til about midnight.
Location wise, the hotel could be a bit of a problem if you are not up for walking. Its a 15 min walk to the castle, 20 min walk to Petrin Tower. Its a good 25 min walk to Charles Bridge, 30/40 min walk to Old Town Square. However, its all down hill. There are plenty of well cheap bars and snack places on route into town where you can stop for a refreshment. Coming back is tiring so 16p tram trip is advisable but it takes 20 mins as it goes all around the vacinity first! Get the number 22 towards Bila Hora to get back to the hotel. Number 22 towards Horavista to go into town. Make sure you get your ticket stamped when you get on the tram. Tickets available from hotel reception and ticket booths close to most main tram stops. Another reason for getting the tram back at night is because the walk in the dark isnt that nice, especially since there is hardly anyone around compared to the busy daytime!
The hotel is out of the centre of town so a taxi from the airport is a it cheaper. Approx a tenner each way. (20 min jouney)
