Hotel good, Location a bit remote A review of Hotel MdR-A DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel

We booked the Courtyard Marriott in Marina Del Rey after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and we got what we expected. The hotel itself and rooms are clean. We had a double room with 2 beds and when we arrived got a room overlooking the parking lot, which we didn't like. The reception was very kind and offered us an alternative room on the 5th floor. It was more sunny, but on the other hand overlooking the heavy traffic on one of the main roads. I am not too bothered about some traffic noises and it was quite calm at night anyway. If I would visit the Marriott again I would recommend to try and get a room with a view to the pool, as the garden is (although small) quite nice and it is probably more quiet.

We had 2 buffet breakfasts in the Marriott, which were absolutely amasing ($11 per person), but you can alternatively also order from a menu if you are not too hungry.

Regarding the location I would probably recommend Santa Monica instead next time, as it is more lively. We thought that there is more of a "downtown" area in Marina Del Rey, but expect for some restaurants near the marina not much happening. We ate at the "Warehouse" and "PJ's", which are both in walking distance to the hotel and the food was very good. They were both overlooking the marina, which is nice at sunset. May I also recommend here that an absolut "must" in LA is the restaurant "Yamashiro" in West Hollywood (only if you have a car). Fantastic food and a great overview on the whole city at night. Bit pricey though. We paid $110 for 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 glasses of wine, but definitely worth it!!!
