Hotel Cerna Liska--The Easiest-to-Find Hotel in Prague A review of Hotel Lippert
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Cerna Liska for four nights between X-mas and New Year's 2004. As Prague's medieval streets are tough to navigate, it was a blessing to have such a centrally-located hotel. If we weren't sure how to get back to the hotel, all we had to do was look for the signs toward the Old Town Square, and we were home free. If you're directionally challenged in the slightest, and this is your first trip to Prague, I would recommend this place highly as it serves as a great "home base."
That much said, I would probably consider another, more authentic location on a 2nd trip to Prague. As it is in the middle of Old Town Square, it is hard to avoid the throngs of noisy and occasionally annoying tourist groups. Our room was nicely proportioned and attractive, but had more of a business-style atmosphere than most private European hotels. In general, it lacked charm.
Be careful when asking the hotel receptionist to call a cab company. We did, and rather than calling a cab, she called a friend of hers to take us to the train station. This friend charged us about 30% too much, which we paid anyway because we needed to catch our train. Make sure you give them the name and number of the cab company you wish to use.
