Hospitable, Comfortable and Traditional A review of The Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel
Every January I spend a few days in Detroit for the North American International Auto Show.
When I travel I tend to stay in modern, business class hotels (W Hotels, Swissotel, Ian Schrager Properties, etc.) But every year in Detroit, I spend at least a couple nights at the Dearborn Inn. It is a few minutes drive out of downtown Detroit and it is a wonderful place.
Every year there are executives from the major automakers (CEO's and other bigwigs from Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Audi, etc..) staying at the Dearborn Inn for the launch of the auto show. Its a very nice place.
It is extremeley traditional- colonial styled architecture. The rooms are averagely sized and appointed but always very clean. The restaurant is excellent, I recommend it highly even if you don't stay at the hotel.
I am often times upgraded to one of the "cottages" in the back, which are like multi-bedroom apartments, just by asking nicely.
The staff has always been very friendly and knowledgeable. Definately one of the best places in the Detroit area- and I've stayed at lots of them.
