Horrible time at the Millennium!!! A review of Millennium Hotel Minneapolis
We stayed at the Millennium Hotel in Feb. I was very excited to stay there because we had heard such encouraging things about it from friends and family who live in MN. I found a good rate on the internet. One hundred dollars a night and it was to include parking. We were visiting a lot of friends in Minneapolis that weekend as well as celebrating my birthday and another couple decided to join us at the hotel for a night. When calling to make reservstions we were assured that we would have ajoining deluxe rooms and there would be a complimentary breakfast in the morning. When we arrived the evening of our reservations we found that we had been lied to. When we checked in they told us they would be adding $12 to our bill for parking. I showed the man at the desk the print out I had with our reservation and confirmation number on it. It listed the ammenities including the free parking. He stated that he could not give us free parking because he didn't know how to make the adjustments on the computer. We then asked when the complimentary breakfast (they had promised us when making reservations)started in the morning. He told us we were welcome to purchase tickets for the breakfast in the morning but there was no complimentary breakfast. After finally getting checked in we made our way to our rooms only to find that our rooms were on opposite ends of the floor from eachother rather than being ajoined. Instead than hanging out in our extremly small and poorly maintained rooms (that looked nothing like the pictures on their site or in thier flyer) we decided to go down to the spa and hang out. When we got to the pool we found it to be dirty and small with no spa (as was mentioned on their web-site). By this time I was frustrated and went to the front desk to complain. The man argued with me that the web-site made no claim of a spa. When I asked him to pull up the hotels web-site on his computer and there was the mention of the spa he said it must have been referring to the spa at the gym down the street that I could purchase a discounted ticket to for $7 a person. Feeling more angry than anything we decided to go to the Martini bar that was raved about on their web-site. They bragged about being able to make over 30 different kinds of Martinis. The drinks ended up being small, watered down and over priced. The security guard the hovered over us also took away from the atmosphere. About 10pm we got fed up with being babysat by their security and decided to head up to our rooms. My fiance walked to the corner to get some beers for us to have in our room. When he re-entered the hotel the security guard questioned him. When he told her that he was a paying tenet at the hotel that night she didn't believe him and walked him up to our room and knocked on the door asking me if he really was staying with me in my room (even though he had already showed her his room key). When checking out the next morning I once again expressed my frustrations. The man at the desk said she could do nothing. I asked to speak to the manager and he told me that he wouldn't be in until 1:00 (one hour after check out time). It wasn't until 3 weeks later when I wrote to the corp. headquarters and threatened to report their company to the better business bureau that they refunded my credit card half of the bill. Needless to say we will never stay there again!!!
