Home Away From Home A review of Bufflehead Cove Inn
My husband and I stayed with Harriet and Jim Gott, and of course, Lily, the beautiful black Lab, Inn- keepers at Bufflehead Cove Inn, in Kennebunkport, Me.
I now call Bufflehead Cove my home away from home. The first time we met Harriet and Jim, we felt like we knew them for years. They made us feel like family. Our Garden Room had it's own private entrance with a courtyard. Our immaculate and beautiful room was an eclectic gathering of delightful furniture, vases, flower arrangements, bookcases with old and new books. Our fireplace filled the room with a gentle glowing warmth, and over the mantle was a bottle of Sherry, only to add to that extra glow ! Our bed was filled with soft, fluffy pillows, a thick plush comforter, and a mattress as comfortable as sleeping on a cloud. Our bathroom was stocked with the little extras, and after a hot shower, we wrapped in thick, plush towels and sipped Bufflehead's own bottled water. Every morning we were greeted at our door by Lily, the black Lab, who was anxiously waiting for that first bounce of her ball. We started our day with a 3 course sumptuous breakfast prepared by Jim and graciously served by Harriet. ( my husband wanted to take Jim and Harriet home with us) We were in no hurry to pound the pavement after breakfast. Sometimes we just sat on the porch or the viewing dock, overlooking the River and listening to the trees and nature speak it's own language. Anyone visiting the Kennebunks in Maine, MUST experience Bufflehead Cove Inn and it's gracious host and hostess, Harriet and Jim, and of course, Lily. BUT - make room for us - we're coming back.
