Home Away From Home A review of Deadwood Dick's
A friend and I have stayed at Deadwood Dick's for four years in a row now -- we have taken an annual vacation during Days of '76 for the past 8 years. My friend was responsible for reservations four years ago, and by the time she remembered it was her turn, we were in trouble. Through the Chamber we found a room at Deadwood Dick's. Dave and Mary were excellent hosts and we had a great time. Thus our year-to-year reservations. We love the "real" sheets and towels, instead of the over-washed and bleached- out versions found in most hotels. The antique elevator is a hoot -- although it does take some practice! This place really does feel more like "home" than any other place we have stayed. It's close enough to the main street action, but just far enough to be off the beaten track. We feel very comfortable walking from downtown to "home", even late in the evening (or should I say early in the morning!). Definitely not a five-star type of hotel(which would have all the five-star amenities and prices), but definitely a "Deadwood-style" accomodation! Thanks always to Dave and Mary for making us feel more like house guests than hotel guests!
