Holiday Inn Select with a great Universtity locale A review of Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center
I had a conference to attend for a full weekday in July, 2005 at the University of Pittsburgh. I live about 2 hours away from PITT in normal traffic. In morning rush hour traffic from my home the Parkway East and Squirrel Hill Tunnels make that drive 4 hours if I want to be at PITT by 9A.M. sharp.
So I opted to stay at the Holiday Inn Select--University Center. The location can not be beat if you have meetings to attend on the Pitt campus. I could walk to my meeting at PITT from my room in 10 minutes. No parking hassles--I just left my car on the hotel's lot which cost me $17.oo. I was reimbursed my parking costs by employer but it is expensive here and not included with the room price. I felt it was worth it to avoid parking lots or street parking as parking in Oakland is terrible and a hassle. The number one feature of this hotel is the location in my opinion.
It is still a nicely furnished property. Indoor pool and sauna and a good restaurant. I had an all you-can-eat breakfast buffet that was only $12.oo with a 20% tip included. There was bacon, ham, pancakes, hash browns, waffles, cereal, assortment of fruits, milk, cofee, tea and juices included in the buffet.
My room was clean, there was a great comfortable King bed and the room smelled fresh. I paid an economical $96.90 with tax included and felt it was well worth the price. This is my hotel of choice when I go the University of Pittsburgh and need accomodations.
