Highly recommended A review of Pali Ke Kua

Just got back from a week at Pali Ke Kua. Our unit, 205, had the most stunning ocean views. If you go, units 101 to 226 are right on the bluff and have perfect views; the others may have decent views but not as awesome. Took another TripAdvisor.com user's advice and rented through Re/Max Kauai and got a killer deal on an upper-level 2-bed, 2-bath for $145 a night. Did everything via e-mail and fax; very hopsitable service there. The small beach there is otherwise accessible only by swimming from nearby Hideaways beach, so it's very secluded. Great snorkeling there, and plenty of shade (and no roosters pecking at your stuff like at Ke'e Beach!). We checked out plenty of other beaches in the area and would urge other travelers to do the same, but this ended up being our favorite. The location is perfect, too. Right by a Foodland and shopping center, and just a 10-min. drive to quirky Hanalei, where you can rent snorkel gear, take the Na Pali Catamaran coast tour and find some great places to eat (do not miss the Polynesia Cafe). It's almost a shame to gripe because everything was so fabulous, but if I had to nitpick, I'd say the unit could use some sharp knives. One reason we chose a condo was so we could cook, but it was impossible to make anything - even a simple salad -with the dull knives. The kitchen faucet needed some work, too. And the mosquitoes got a bit irksome at times, so if you're sensitive to bites, take some repellant.Otherwise, it was a beautiful space, and they even had beach towels, a beach umbrella and chairs and a cooler. They also had tall chairs on the lanai that made it possible to see over the railing. If you get another upper unit without them, the railing may obscure your view a bit. Other users said lower levels can be noisy from folks walking above, but the walls are a bit thin and we heard some noise anyway. Nothing too bad, though.Pali Ke Kua came highly recommended from a coworker, and I highly recommend it to anyone as well for the location, the views, the convenience and the price. We will definitely go back.
