Heaven in Paradise! A review of Le Taha'a Island Resort & Spa

absolutely a gorgeous resort! only 2 years old.....lovely grounds.....elevated dining room over looking beautiful lagoon nestled among the palm trees....inside or outside dining....open air w/ceiling fans. great staff throughout resort. good food....excellent french pastries w/jellies & jams each morning (breakfasts included in daily rate for 2). lunches served poolside....open deck or covered or at pool chaise.....fantastic burgers & huge....we were splitting one along with mile high fries! beautiful lagoon shaped infinity pool w/umbrellas...chaises and good supply of towels. excellent watersport equipment.....kayaks are of professional quality! peddle boats are great fun! can wade from poolside beach to little island (motu) with palm trees & new cotton hammock or take a lunch across.....water's not higher than top of your leg....no current....takes 2-3 minutes to wade across....great fun & romantic! you feel ship wrecked just 100 ft maybe from the pool's beach! accommodations....another story in itself....no bad choice! from the states we decided to split accommodations between overwater units and beach bungalow with private plunge pool....both are gorgeous! did the beach unit first and glad we did....we never did move to the overwater units! the size of the beach units is 1,600 sq ft!!!

HUGE! massive bath inside.....outside sunken garden marble tub with shower.....big sitting area with sofa/day bed....tv's in that room and bedroom....huge bedroom with panoramic glass doors opening onto big deck with heavy wood chaises and table.....also.....a foyer from the beach side entrance to the garden/entry side of suite! totally enclosed unit with private walkways and gardens and grass lawn with palm trees overhead! separate patio with more chaise loungers w/pads at private plunge pool!!!! and another separate sitting area to get out of sun with more furniture and outside ceiling fan! plunge pool is 5 ft deep......water area is 4x 6 ft or bigger (not smaller) and there's a shallow end that extends another 6 ft for laying in to keep cool if you want to read or whatever it is you want to do! great idea here! direct access from this pool to your own beachfront area! we swam out to the overwater units and climbed up on one....it was unoccupied at the time....it was beautiful but almost half the size as the beachfront unit and it is more money! it does though have a glass panel in floor to see the fish either at day or night with lighting. we can't say enough about this fine resort! we were gone 3 weeks and have just returned easter morning 2004. will certainly be returning! it's a WINNER!
