Have had much better accomod. for less$ A review of Gettysburg Hotel
Let me first start by saying that the location of the Gettysburg hotel is probably the best thing going for it. I also have to say that a couple of the front desk people and the waitress in the bar were great. But, there was also a person at the front desk who did not have a smile for any one nor did she make us feel welcome.
Unfortunately, the web site we had visited said free parking...WRONG! If you want to park in the garage located behind/beside the hotel, it's $7.75/ day.
The "Suite" we booked consisted of two tiny rooms. The bedroom had a double bed and a 3 drawer dresser and was about 10'X10'. It did have two closets. The living room was about the same size with a double sofa sleeper and another dresser.
The suite only had ONE mirror and that was above the bathroom sink. NO FULL LENGTH MIRROR ANY WHERE. The light in the bathroom was so dim that it was impossible to apply any makeup properly. ...and if the bathroom was occupied, well you didn't have a mirror at all.
HOUSEKEEPING...This was horrible. Not having a trash can in the bedroom, we had put some snack wrappers on the bottom shelf of the night stand. They stayed there the whole 4 evenings we were there. Also, there were a few pcs of debris on the carpet which never was swept. In the bathroom, we had accidently spilled something on the floor. That stayed there the whole time also. The counter by the coffee maker was not wiped off for 2 days.
Probably one of our biggest dissapointments was the fact that the hotel advertises rooms decorated in period furnishings. Again, this was any thing but true. Our room had furnishings that were dated and worn, but not period by any means.
The view out our windows was the black roof top of part of the same building. Nothing else was visible.
I guess for about $150.00 a night, we expected something much bigger/nicer.
