Has a lot of potential A review of Merchant's House Hotel

We recently stayed at the Merchant's House Hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed it. The reservation process online was very smooth. Overall I rate the hotel average with lots of room for improvement. I would recommend it as a good place to stay while in Tallinn. However, I hope that management will improve this hotel so that travelers will feel as though they've gotten their money's worth.

When we arrived in our room we were surprised that there was no literature regarding the hotel (i.e. room service menu, instructions on how to dial the phone, mini-bar prices, etc.) After asking the front desk we did get a mini-bar price list but nothing else. We had to ask the restaurant for a room service menu.

Additionally, we had a shower that was leaking which created a large puddle on the bathroom floor. Although we reported it to the front desk, it was never fixed.

The hotel is located in a very ideal location near restaurants and shops. In fact, I can't think of a better location to stay in all of Tallinn.

One downside was the darkness of the courtyard. It was very difficult to find the keyhole to our door at night.

The massage services the hotel offers were very good and I highly recommend them.

The breakfast was good - but again, there is lots of room for improvement. The number of wait staff was woefully inadequate causing lots of tables to remain dirty long after patrons left. In a small restaurant, this is unacceptable. I saw several people walk out of breakfast becuase they could not find a table. The runny, watery eggs were the worst part of the breakfast.
