Great Value A review of Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa

The hotel is a tremendous value for the price. The Hyatt website offers the best deals, although you need to keep punching through the rates to get to them. Jeff, the desk manager, was particularly great. He assured us, and we got, a room with a view over the golf course and up to the mountains; when the oversold Regency Club breakfast room was bursting at the seams, Jeff was there to cart out platters of berries and smoked salmon; when a long line formed at the check-out, he magically appeared again to speed us on our way. I really liked the rooms-- they are two -tiered, spacious, and have a sitting area. The bathrooms are marble and have a separate shower, and are large. If you are planning to have your child stay with you, take the king with a cot the double beds are really oversized twins, not a comfortable fit for two. The new spa and fitness center are lovely, although during a busy week, there was a wait for machines. The resort fee gives you entrance to the spa and its steam and sauna. The resort s recent renovation includes an adult lap pool and Jacuzzi (with powerful jets). On a previous stay the main pool was overrun with kids and the new pool is a wonderful addition. Hyatt pools are never built for lap swimmers they are designed for artistic shape and often feature swim-up bars ( a real obstacle for a swimmer). This one was designed with many twists and turns, but it was lovely to look at, had a great view of the mountains, was kept at a perfect temperature, and three of us managed at the same time to circumvent the turns and enjoy a swim. And the bar was out of the pool and next to the Jacuzzi. The golf course is challenging, has some lovely vistas, and is also reasonably priced for the area.
