Great Value, Great Fun A review of Christie Lodge

Our family has stayed here numerous times. You are short ride to Beaver Creek on a free bus that stops right in front. It is a 10 minute drive to Vail or take the inexpensive shuttle. There are all kinds of dining and shopping options within walking distance. There is a Subway and an inexpensive but good Nepalese restuarant inside. Across the street are a couple of excellent restarants if you want higher end dining. Gart Sports and Walmart are close by. For boutique shopping, take the shuttle to Beaver Creek Village. There are endless options for hiking and mountain biking. Many people use this as a base for day trips to Vail, Leadville, Glennwood Springs, and even Aspen.

The units were refurbished in the last couple of years. The partial kitchen includes a half size refrigerator, dishwasher, and sink. For cooking there is a microwave and an electric skillet. I've been told that the front desk has additional items like a crock pot for free use, but I have never taken advantage of this. Most of the units are 1 bedroom. The entry to these units is into the bedroom that has a queen bed, closet, and TV. The other half has a queen sofa sleeper, kitchen, table, TV/DVD, fireplace, and a sliding door to the balcony. There is a door that separates the two halves of the unit and a common bathroom with two entrances. The small bunk beds have been replaced with a kid size day bed. For a 1 bedroom, the units are on the small side, but they are clean and comfortable. I have seen several reviews from prior to the refurbishment that complained about the conditions, but while the units are nicer now, I don't recall any significant issues from before the refurbishment.

There are several adult hot tubs and one family hot tub, an indoor pool, and an outdoor pool.

I will continue staying here. If you want nice accomadations in a great location for a good price, I'd stay here anytime. I take friends here all the time and they always want to come back. If you want Marriott quality with Marriott prices, stay in Vail.
