Great value, but photographs are deceptive A review of Heythrop Park Resort, Golf & Country Club
Just returned from a weekend at Heythorp Park. I read some of these reviews before going and was suprised by how different their experiences were. It now makes perfect sense. Heythorp Park is not so much a hotel as a conference centre. It looks like a small college with modern extensions. We had a room in the Falcon wing, which whilst a bargain, looked and felt like a Holiday Inn Express and was a five minute walk (internal) from the main house. They don't display photographs of the modern annexes or their rooms (Falcon/Archer). The main house is impressive, though a little cold and let down by cheap fluorescent lighting. It could definitely do with a touch of 'Queer Eye.' The restaurant was adequate and the staff were sweet. Buffet style breakfasts were very good. The staff/service in the rest of the hotel staff was at best inefficient at worst useless. If you are looking for a romantic country weekend, stay in the main house. The grounds and surroundings are wonderful. Swimming pool and sports facilities are good too.
