Great Spa and restaurant, amazing palace from XVI century A review of Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa

I wanted to spend a nce romantic weekend in Prague with my girlfriend and a friend of mine told me about Tripadvisor to avoid bad surprises.....I have to say that I love it, and it is going to be my best travel agency since now on!!!! Anyway, I started to check here and there, mostly having in mind the four options somebody suggested me; Iron Gate, Hoffmeister, Four Seasons and Alchymist. Alchymist was givng us the best price and we liked very much their Web page. So we decided for The Alchymist. The first impression was really fantastic, being the Hotel done out of three different buildings from Baroque and Renaissance period; The first of the three houses is a kind of small Palace, with a courtyard full of flowers and even a romantic fountain with fishes. Since we arrived late in the evening, there were also two musicians playing nice melodies and few candlelighted tables were taken by Restaurant guests. I was a little disappointed by the fact that no doorman was standing at the main entrance, anyway one of the waiters of the restaurant came almost immediately to help us with our luggages apologizing that the bellboy was assisting some other clients who just arrived. At the reception; that is quite small but very nicely decorated, there was just one young guy who was anyway very friendly and helpfull in explaining us the services of the Hotel. To go to our roon, a De Luxe room that after I realized that means the smallest accomodation the offer (!!!) we passed through few different gotic vaulted rooms very richely decorated ( with even some fresco paintings ) and a strange collection of etnic, exotic and old objects that my girlfriend found intriguing but a little funny and that anyway surprisingly match with th eclectic atmosphere.

Finally in the room, beautifull and very rich, but not oversized as we hoped after checking the pictures in Internet, we called the nice guy at the Reception to book a table in a nice restaurant. He first tried t offer us the Hotel Restaurant, but hwe wantedto go out exploring the city, so he suggested Kampa Park, not too far on the river. Great location and dramatic view to Charles Bridge and very good food, but very expansive and, as we saw; mostly full of tourists!!!! I am sure they tip the receptions of the different hotels, anyway we were happy and a nice full moon helped the romantic setting.

The next day started in a very good way with a great breakfast in the magnificent Hotel dining room. Since the Breakfast wasincluded in the price, wr didn"t expected such great variety of nice food ( even freshly cutted smoked salmon ) and attentive service. Was a great way to started our day!.... At the reception, where we conplained a little about the size of our room, there were two nice ladies who offered us to change it for another one, but finally we didn"t want to pack again, and we decided to remain in our "" de luxe "" room that we liked anyway since the window was opening on a small couryard wih a nice fountain that is nice to hear. when you wake up...... So they offered us a discounted price for a treatment in the Spa.

After a long day walking around all Prague, the massage we had together in the Spa was really amazing, provided by two Balinese girls;

For dinner we stayed in the Hotel Restaurant, Aquarius, and it was everything perfect, including the live music played by the two Brazilian musicians;

Great stay in this unusual small hotel, that we suggest to any romantic couple looking for a romantic escape.
