Great resort with reasonable price A review of Atlantic Oceanside Hotel and Conference Center
We stayed in the Atlantic Oakes on July 13, 2004 for 1 night with the AAA rate of $143.10 for a 2DB oceanview room. It was really reasonable as most motels/hotels in Bar Harbor needed at least a 2-night stay. The rooms we got were on the middle floor of a 3-story building and had balconies that offered a nice view of the Frenchman's Bay.
The buffet breakfast was OK ($8.50 each) and the hotel was near the entrance of Acadia National Park, which was very convenient if you want to enjoy the beautiful sunset/sunrise at Cadillac Mountain.
One of our 2 rooms had a clean kitchen with all utensils that you'll need to cook a decent meal. However, we chose to eat a great lobster dinner in downtown Bar Harbor. Go for an earlybird dinner & you'll save at least 10% and it's easier to get a table.
The most wonderful thing in downtown Bar Harbor was the shopping. Souvenirs were 20-50% cheaper than other Atlantic tourist cities in New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia. Go and have fun!
