Great relaxing experience for me and my family A review of Longboat Key Club & Resort
My family and I had a terrific experience at the resort. The service was terrific, especially the concierge Sherman. The rooms were spacious and newly renovated. It was a joy to eat breakfast overlooking the beach and to be able to cook some meals indoors.
The restaurants around were expensive but mostly very good. We especially liked the Crab and Fin, PattiGeorges, the Chart House and the Lobster deal at Hemingways.
What was really nice was how so many things were complimentary--the tennis, the bicycles, the tennis ball machine, the fitness center. The pro even arranged tennis matches for my sister every day. The golf wasn't free but was also a good deal.
The only minor ding is that the golf course was not all that interesting. However, since it was August, we only had 18 holes to look at (Harbourside red and white), so did not see Harbourside blue. We did bike along the cart path of Islandside golf course. That was a fun experience. My brother got a hole-in-one on the Red, so golf wasn't that bad for all of us.
The beach was nice and since it is a private beach, I felt comfortable leaving my stuff there as I took walks, etc. The water was very shallow however and you would have to go way out before the water reached your waste. It was warm however so no problem jumping right in. Same with the pool.
Also relaxing was that this was off-season so the place was kind of empty, which is great for us. No crowds at the beach or restaurants or pool or tennis courts.
All in all, a terrific experience for all of us.
