Great Property - Spotty Service A review of Westin Bear Mountain Victoria Golf Resort & Spa
This is a beautiful hotel in an idylic setting outside of Victoria. Part of a huge development that reminded us of a young Whistler with all the money being sunk into this development. All aspects of the property itself were excellent.
The problem was spotty service. Breakfast this morning took an hour from when we sat down to when it was delivered despite the fact that we told them we had a ferry to catch. Then we had to repeatedly ask for the bill. Our friends are "Marriott People" but had always assumed Westin meant high end service. This experience certainly opened their eyes. We had a similar experience at the Copper Rock Grill for dinner. The good news is they did a good job with appetizers and drinks at the lounge next door. The appetizers were excellent.
Room service was also rather haphazard. On Sunday they came by at 5:30PM to clean the room.
The golf course was beautiful and difficult. Recommended for serious golfers only. No driving range though which is a significant omission for a golf resort.
All in all, still a great place to stay but they need to get their act together with their service.
