Great Pre-Cruise Stay A review of Residence Inn Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach

My entire family and I stayed here prior to our cruise June 16-17 th,2006. We reserved two of the two bedroom suites, which are very spacious- could accomodate six adults easily. We did the stay, park and ride deal. A decent hot breakfast bar is included with the room (sausage, eggs, the works). As the hotel, does not have their own shuttle going to the port, they use Cocoa Beach Shuttle Company-service was great and the shuttle arrived on time, took care of bags and got us to the port. When checking in, reserve your shuttle time(11AM,11:30, or 12 noon).

The ROOMS

The floor plan was as described 2 separate bedrooms and a separate common area- full kitchen, small eat-in area .The rooms are well-decorated, a tropical theme as is the rest of the hotel. The beds are extremely comfortable. There is a large closet dressing area leading to the bathroom with typical furnishings: one noteworthy feature- is the curved shower bar . There are three t'vs- one in every room. The ceilings are at least 9 feet. Everything was clean and looked new. It was fairly obvious that it was a new hotel (opened in April- I think) Parking was not a problem and is free.

Amentities:

The pool/ jacuzzi area was great. The pool was clean and large enough to enjoy without invading anyone's space. For a Friday night it was fairly quiet- I enjoyed relaxing out there. For as close as it is to the main drag, I could not hear traffic.

There is a large patio area outside with tables and chairs. ( I loved the rocking chairs- nice added touch).

There is a nice lobby/dining area with ample seating for lounging around. There is a business center with free internet access and access in the rooms. There was never a long wait to use the computer.

Also, there is an outdoor basketball area ( the kids enjoyed it) and a small workout room.

The Location

This hotel is not on the beach but very close to Cocoa Beach (we spent the afternoon there). It may be a 3 minute drive to everthing: the beach, the ports, the interstate. It is very conveniently located. It is in a "hotel zone"- hotels to the left and right and what appears to be condo buildings behind it. There is new construction behind it: I am assuming because it was Friday- we did not hear anything- so be aware that a week day /night stay may be different as far as noise from construction. So in all, don't look for much of a veiw, but its close enough to everything.

The Staff

Service was great. Check-in and check-out went smoothly. Staff went out of the way to help us with anything we asked, and were great about giving us directions to everything.

Bottomline:

We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.
