Great, modern, & contemporary - Loved it A review of Fiji Beach Resort & Spa Managed by Hilton
My wife and I visited the Fiji Beach Resort and Spa for 5 days in the last week of August and it was fantastic. The whole feel of the place is very modern and contemporary. Plenty of space to relax and just sit by the pool (4 to choose from) drinking cocktails or you can take a diving course, go kayaking, sailing or many other things (we chose the first option). Our villa was very well appointed with a large bathroom area (and giant bath), a huge super king size bed, Bose stereo, plasma TV's, a great kitchen area and a barbeque on the patio. All the villas have ocean views and plenty of privacy if you want. There are plenty of coconut palms to sit under (one of the staff told us these had all just been put in recently).
The staff were all incredibly friendly and professional. You can swim at the beach but the water around Denarau Island isn't very clear - this is the same for the nearby resorts.
We were well aware before we went that the gym and spa weren't finished, we simply walked next door to the Mandara Spa and had a great time. We would not hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone. There are a lot of mixed reviews coming out about this newly opened 5 star resort and it seems to revolve a lot around whether or not you experience construction activities while there. We didn't so we had a great time.
There are still having a few small teething problems i.e. incompatible DVD players and DVD's, restaurant menu lacking a la carte option - but this will be fixed by mid September. A very very small personal niggle was the quality of the coffee, they really need a good barista to teach staff. Any teething problems will be fixed really quickly. We walked past the nearby Sofitel and Weston resorts and they just don't measure up. We will definitely stay again.
