Great Location A review of BEST WESTERN Hotel Meteor Plaza
Just, 26th March 2004, returned from the Meteor Plaza, party of four middle aged and senior, one with slight mobility problems, and found the Hotel to be of a pretty good standard. One or two minor points: -Front desk staff are reasonably good and helpful despite a cold appearance, services offered are reasonable and the staff are getting to grips with the service industry. The Hotel prices are also reasonable, the cellar bar appears to be a fairly quiet for a nightcap, closes at midnight, however you can raid the mini bar with out having to consider a second mortgage.Breakfast is a little bit of a disorganized affair, it seems to take the staff by surprise when the guests all turn up at breakfast time. During busy periods, the crockery seems to run out, and the replenishment of the breakfast items appears to go a little awry. The toast making facilities leave plenty of scope for improvement, overall however it becomes part of the routine, and you soon get into their swing of things.Residents are entitled to a 10% discount in the hotel bars and restaurants, but there seems a reluctance to deduct it with out having to insist, even when you have charged to the room. The location for our trip was excellent, 5 minutes from the Powder Tower \ Municipal Buildings, 15 minutes Wenceslas Square \ Old Town Square, 25 minutes Opera House, 30 minutes from the Jewish Quarter, all times were on foot with someone with limited mobility, the Hotel really is within easy reach of the majority of attractions. There are Restaurants around also within easy reach ranging from the intimate to the stylish, all are good value, and affordable. We found we could confidently dine with out even having to think of looking the prices on the menu. All in all I have no qualms about recommending this place for a stay, it is on a quieter side of central, but close enough to easily reach the interests. Major ?Must Do? interests are to the left as you exit the Hotel, but there is an equally interesting world to the right when you exit, its worth a nosey few moments just to look and explore. The country will adopt the Euro soon, and I think that the prices may well rise, but it will still probably be very reasonable by comparison to the UK.
