Great Location A review of Pullman Sydney Hyde Park
After reading some reviews and many travel books about hotels in the different sections of Sydney, we booked a hotel by central station. Then upon reading a review on that particular hotel we canceled it and booked the Renaissance Hotel near the Rocks and Opera House on the Circular Quay. Just before we traveled, it was renovated and became the Sydney Marriott. As senior tourists not knowing what we were getting into, and new to Australia travel we were totally delighted with the hotel and the location. We were so glad to be able to walk over to the Opera House to attend a symphony and walk to The Rocks to have breakfast at a tea garden and shop. The train station and busses were right there and to top it off Starbucks was across the street! The Marriott rooms and staff are just great. Our view of the water and Opera House was delightful and the bathrooms are tile and spacious with large separate shower and tub and two sinks. There's a stocked fridge and the king bed was comfortable. We were too busy to use the gym and pool which was still being renovated at the time. (April 2003) If you stay through a Sunday we highly recommend the hotel brunch. We feel our choice was perfect and Circular Quay area for acommodations is the best if you want to relax for a few days and still get around easily. An added bunus for us was that our Pacific Princess cruise ship docked right at the port in Circular Quay. We boarded it for a two week cruise to the South Pacific and that's another story!
