Great location, otherwise overated A review of Inn at Sunrise Point
My wife and I visited the Inn at Sunrise Point in August. First, the good, we stayed in the Fitz Hugh Lane cottage which was right over the water, the location could not have been better. I should state, however, that not all of the cottages have the same view. The cottage was good sized and attractive. The bed, however, was very hard and uncomfortable. The cottage had no air conditioning and got very warm during the hot summer day and evening making it somewhat difficult to sleep. The cottage had a small TV and VCR, but they were located in a cabinet that was very far from the bed so if you wanted to utilize them you would have to sit in their uncomfortable chairs to see properly.
Breakfast is served in an attractive but crowded area and with the exception of one separate table you are forced to eat with other guests. There is no option to have breakfast delivered to your cottage or room, nor are their trays furnished so you could have breakfast somewhere else. The breakfast was good, but not great or particularly bountiful. The Inn's brochure claims they have been rated as one of the top Inns in the country, we would disagree. With the exception of the location it seemed very average, with service and comfort not being at the level of the better inns and bed and breakfast establishments. At over $400 per night, you can do better.
