Great location, ho-hum staff A review of Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center

The hotel was undergoing some renovations, which resulted in unsafe balconies (no warning and we had small children), non-stop noise and the added treat of having mouthy workman just outside our 4th floor balcony sliding door at 7 a.m. The desk people were (with one exception) generally disinterested and unhelpful, the maids were most interested in skirting their jobs (one asked if we needed anything--we said "towels"...she took this asa cue not to make beds or do any other work in the room. ) Worst of all, we left a child's (brand new) bathing suit in the room and although we called immediately, the hotel told us it was never found. Repeated calls and e-mails were ignored. So in retrospect, I'm annoyed we stayed there and paid full price and were treated like the "practice" guests for the summer tourist season. The pool was not open yet, even though the one across the street was open...the restaurant was also closed. On the plus side, the location, right on the boardwalk, is great and the kids (oblivious to service problems) loved staying there. I was hoping for more though and would probably not stay there again.
