Great location, Great beach, poor accommodation A review of Hilton Longboat Key Beachfront Resort
The Hilton is a small hotel in an idyllic location - you can walk (almost) straight onto the beach.
We visited a year ago and were looking forward to coming back as the hotel was due for refurbishment.
The Hilton benefits from an intimate atmosphere - the locals use the very rustic pool bar area as a kind of social club.
Staff were generally helpful, but the restaurant - and more especially the bar staff - only seem interested in closing as early as possible. Bar staff sometimes surly and unhelpful.
Rooms are large but tired-looking. with very small bathrooms. The Hilton have made much of their re-vamp but the money has not been spent on the bedrooms.
Pool area is very good - plenty of towels and a reasonable number of loungers but not many umbrellas (so get them early).
Beach is fabulous with large umbrellas and cabana's available.
This could be a first class Hotel and would be if the bedrooms especially the bathrooms were of a higher standard. Please remind the bar staff that the brits don't go to bed at 10pm!
