Great location, beds and price but foul smell A review of Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown

We went to Pittsburgh for the holiday weekend to see a ball game at PNC park, which is a great ball park. The location was fantastic. It was a short walk from the strip, the ball parks, museums, downtown and Point State Park. The only thing that was not so great was the smell. I am not sure if it was just our room as the halls and the lobby did not smell. It was as if the carpet was damp and starting to mold. I am not exactly sure what it was because at one point I thought it may have been the wood closet or the air conditioner. It wasn't bad enough that we needed to change rooms just annoying.

Other good things about the hotel: wine bar/rest. attached decent food, great wine and a shuttle available. The shuttle took us to Station Square and we took a cab back for $6. Station square is a definite tourist trap with loud music and great views. Pittsburgh was a great little weekend trip. I do recommend the hotel as location is quiet and has access to the city and all it has to offer. The bed was comfortable, lots of pillows which was nice, and the bathroom was big. What I really liked most about this hotel was the room set up (king bed room). The headboard was not against the wall of another room, which is always a problem I have staying at hotels as I am a light sleeper. All the good things outweighed the lingering smell (my boyfriend seemed to have no issue with this). Overall a good choice.
