Great Location and Staff A review of Hotel National, A Luxury Collection Hotel
Spent one night here before a river cruise. The staff were most helpful via email in extending our visas for the extra night and arranging transportation prior to our arrival. Our rate was USD 195 + tax. That included an excellent breakfast sitting at a window table overlooking the Kremlin. Our room was small and overlooked a side courtyard and the outer windows were "bubble" glass. So plenty of light but no view. Everything was very clean and adequate for a short stay. The concierge was most helpful and got us a reservation at the Pushkin Cafe on the day we arrived -- not to be missed. The area around the hotel is quite safe and we wandered over to Red Square after dinner and saw it beuatifully lit and without the crowds. Many "walk to" sites make this an ideal hotel for tourists. For business you might want something a little more modern.
