Great little village A review of Beekman Arms and Delamater Inn
So much to see and do and so picturesque. Stayed at Beekman Arms ancillary motel (we are not the B&B types, do not like old&creaky, but the restaurant there is top notch) must see home of FDR and you must eat at CIA - have tried both the American Bounty and Katerina Di Medici - the "Eveready Diner" on Route 9 in Hyde Park just below Rhinebeck was great for more casual fare - really very good food and varied menu. Also visited Storm King Art Center - try to go on a day when there are tours - hard to walk this as it is so large but very impressive - great Calders; took a boat ride from Kingston on the Hudson - scenery is fabulous, on way back to NYC or PHILA, do not miss Kykuit - Rockefeller estate, also, take the scenic drive around Bear Mountain and West Point for great views and some pullovers on the road of the majestic Hudson. Vanderbilt Mansion is good to visit also. We toured Montgomery Mansion also - lovely grounds but could miss this one if you are pressed for time. Village of Rhinebeck has great little ice cream parlors and retro-feel comfort food restaurants. Fun time for all ages.
