Great little hotel as base for ski trip A review of The Cedar House Sport Hotel
Our family of five stayed here for 4 nights the first week of January, 2007. We stayed in 2 double queen rooms. No adjoining rooms at this hotel so that was a little disappointing. Rooms were nicely furnished in a Euro style. (Looked like they shopped at IKEA) Anti scald device on shower was a little annoying to get used to, although the staff explained how to use it during their initial walkthrough of the room. Small fridge in room with free water bottles replenished each day. All the staff from owners to front desk to housekeeping were very nice and knowledgable. Owners were great helping us decide where to ski each day. They sell discounted lift tickets at front desk for all area resorts. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit, salmon, ham, cheese, croissants, hard boiled eggs, muffins, yogurt, etc. Owner offered each morning to make latte for us. Small full bar in lobby was nice for night cap although we enjoyed it more when the owner was bartending. Regular bartender just didn't hit it off with us. This is a small hotel with about 42 rooms in 2-3 different buildings. There are a few 2 room suites that just have 1 bed in them. Speaking of beds, they were comfortable with pillow top mattresses and no top sheets, just 2 seperate comforters on each bed. Unfortunately rear of property abuts old trailer park so views are not great out back. Many trees surround property so that makes up for trailer park. You do have to walk outside to get to lobby and breakfast area which can be invigorating on a cold winter morning. It snowed a bit while we were there so some of the paths were a little icy. Over all a very pleasant and surprising find. Would definitely return if in area again. There is a small airport only a mile or so away, so private pilots would find this property very convenient.
