Great hotel A review of Hyatt Regency Santa Clara
Stayed here one night for a convention last month (April 2006). It was nice from the check in with courteous and competent staff. The hotel is clean and fresh smelling, no sense that it is a run down second hand Westin. The room was on par for the rating level, clean, spacious (about the same size as the Hilton across the street). The beds and pillows are sooo comfortable. We got a great night's sleep. The bath robe is a nice touch. It was too cold to visit the pool and we were too exhausted to visit the exercise room.
The only flaw was the poor service at the restaurant. We got there just before the crowd came in from the convention. The food came quick enough. But the waiter seemed to have forgotten about us, and we could not get any of the staff to take off their blinders and notice a wave or motion for help. It took forever to get the check.
As for conventions, it is nicer not to cross the street to get back to our room. It is ideally located for Great America. A leisure spa with a view it is not.
