Great Hotel-Stayed here 9/9/04 A review of La Quinta Inn & Suites Galveston Seawall West
The hotel was new, very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. I paid $80.99+tax for a double room on a Thursday night. This is a good price, but I found Hotel Galvez, The Treemont, and Hotel San Luis (which are rated higher) for around $109 the same night. I booked the La Quinta because it allowed pets. I never heard a plane fly over the hotel--which prior guests warned about on this website. The continental breakfast consisted on muffins, fruit, kolaches, and "do-it-yourself" waffles. Make sure you book this La Quinta (8710 Seawall Blvd) and not the other La Quinta on 1402 Seawall Blvd. The 1402 La Quinta is located closer to the restaurants and shops, but looks extremely run-down and received terrible reviews. The 8710 LaQuinta is only 7 blocks away and is much nicer for the same price!! Also, check out the "East Beach." My husband and I went there today and the beach was not crowded, very clean, and had been raked this morning. The East Beach is usually $7 to enter, but it was free today--I guess because it is slow season. But, it would definitely be worth the $7! Would definitely stay here again-especially if I bring my dog!!
