Great Hotel in Downtown Nashville A review of Holiday Inn Express Nashville Downtown

We stayed here for 5 nights Oct. 25-30. Overall we were happy with this hotel. It is centrally located to many attractions and a short hop onto I40. I will tell you what we liked and didn't like about this hotel.

Things we liked: Our room was clean and large enough for the 4 of us. We got 2 double beds and one fairly large bathroom with marble vanity and plenty of hot water in the shower. There was a tv/armoire and desk with a leather chair. Our room was cleaned only when we requested (our choice). We received extra towels as soon as we asked for them. We also had a hairdryer and coffeemaker in the bathroom.

The Express Start Breakfast was nice. The hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and we ate there every morning. It is in a large room with multiple tv's. There was an assortment of juices, cereal, fruit, rolls and hard-boiled eggs. There were also two coffee bars located here.

The gift shop was small but had a variety of items including reasonably priced souvenirs, t-shirts, hats, keychains, newspapers and bottled Starbucks coffee.

The gym which we used almost daily had treadmills, stationary bike, stair climbers and weights. Very nice room with multiple tv's.

There were two computers set up in the lobby which was nice for checking email. These were in use quite a bit with a 30 minute time limit if people are waiting.

Things we didn't like: We had to make five phone calls to receive a rollaway bed. Housekeeping told us to ask the front desk and the front desk told us to ask housekeeping. That was a little annoying but nothing major. And they didn't charge us for the bed which was nice.

The pool is closed after Labor Day. We asked why and were told it was because of health regulations. Seems kind of odd but not the hotel's fault if true. It was in the 80's and hot and humid when we were there but no one was allowed to even sit in the pool area. We didn't really have time to swim anyway so this wasn't a big deal.

There are two parking areas, one under the hotel and the other outside. We didn't have a problem finding parking until later in the week when we were out late one night. There were no spots in the underground lot and only a few left outside.

There are pop and ice machines on each floor but no snack machines.

There is a shuttle bus which starts around 6:00 p.m. and goes downtown. We didn't use this as there is no set schedule for the bus.

There are no jacuzzi rooms in this hotel which I know because I heard someone ask.

I think I have covered about everything I can think of. Hope this helps someone.
