Great hotel - horrible location - poor service A review of NH Prague
Just returned from 5 nights in Prague in November, 2003. We stayed at the Movenpick where we got a good deal through Priceline. This hotel is very beautiful and very large. The rooms are above average though nothing extraordinary. They have a cafe which is pricy. The bathrooms are large, well lit and impeccably clean. The location of the Movenpick is just awful if you're a walker. If you plan on taking cabs and have tons of $$- then that's another story but the Movenpick is sooooo far from the center of town - and the nearest Metro stop, Andon is a good 20 minute walk through a seedy and dark street with NO SIDEWALK! The staff is unbelievably rude and they tried to charge us for a breakfast they told us was free. We ended up having to pay for it after a lengthy argument with the front desk. They are soooo rude, snotty and haughty at the front desk. They also raised eyebrows and made comments about my staying with a female friend. This is not common in the Czech Republic.
Women only travel with men. Aside from the horrible location, this is a very nice hotel...better to try finding one closer to town or closer to a metro stop.
