Great hotel experience (surprising in light of other reviews). A review of Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel
I stayed on the 4th floor of this hotel. There's a really nice fitness center on that floor that is open 24 hours (with sauna, showers, towels, etc.). (Some weight plates were cracked -- but, that was a minor inconvenience.) The room was really clean, notwithstanding the small towel that was on the floor when I checked in. The two beds had really nice comforters. The heating/cooling system was very modern and quiet. The TV was a nice size. The bar/restaurant people were friendly and very cordial. Inside the hotel reminded me of my previous stays at Hilton hotels. This is just a few blocks away from City Center (an indoor mall of sorts -- with a music store, bookstore, department store, restaurants, and a lot of other interesting stores) and the heart of downtown. The area surrounding the hotel is very walkable and it's safe to walk about, even at night. There is a Starbucks very close by.
Needless to say, despite a few minor complaints, I really liked my stay. I was in Columbus for a seminar and I got the impression that a lot of business people stayed in this hotel. Good experience all around.
